Publishing

As a composer, I'm fortunate to have had my music used in many different contexts by a wide range of organisations. It has been broadcast on small independent, major international and web-based radio stations, performed at venues ranging from the local pub to the Royal Albert Hall and been recorded and released on independent and major labels.

I have subsequently learned much about the way the music business operates and, perhaps more importantly, how one gets paid for usage of music!

There are many composers who don't receive what is duly theirs because they don't know how or simply can't be bothered. Well, we know how and can be bothered!

Publishing can be seen as a kind of agency for musical works (songs, instrumentals etc.), where the publisher handles the adminitration and the promotion/exploitation of the works, collects royalties and pays the writer their share. The publisher/writer split can vary widely depending on the use. The generally accepted split for music intended for media usage is 50/50.

The aim of Unbelievable Music is to assist with placement of production music through existing outlets whilst actively seeking new ones.

So, if you are producing quality music in any style suitable for media use, we'd like to hear from you. For more info click here.

Remember, we operate on the basis of 'if you don't make money from your music, neither do we'!
