Andy James

Andy James is undeniably one of the UKs foremost metal guitarist and a talent to rival his one-time influences (Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Vinnie Moore etc...). ‘From the first time I heard ‘Surfing With The Alien’ I knew I wanted to shred – it just sounded so fun and cool to do’. And so, shred he did!
After he’d been playing a while, a stint at the Guitar Institute in London afforded him the opportunity to share a stage with Vinnie Moore who was quick to share his thoughts on Andy’s playing – ‘Great playing dude, you have an awesome technique’.
Confidence clearly boosted by such comments, Andy entered the Birmingham Guitar Hero competition, a national event which he won in style. This ultimately led to Andy’s association with competition sponsors Ernie Ball as a demonstrator and endorsee. Further competitions followed, leading him to gain more media exposure and the chance to play with other great guitarists such as Zakk Wylde. Andy has matured as a player and can now hold his own in the company of the aforementioned illustrious names – a fact obvious to anyone who’s seen his contributions for the DVD tuition company Lick Library or witnessed his live performances, either solo or with his band Sacred Mother Tongue.
Andy’s awesome playing is once again captured on the EP ‘Kaos 7’. Four previously un-released tracks of blistering fretwork combine the best of shredding with soulful melodic passages to make this an essential release for fans of instrumental guitar music. And, if that’s not enough, to coincide with the release of Kaos 7, Andy’s first solo album, ‘Machine’ will be officially released and available online for the first time through Unbelievable Music UK. It is truly awe inspiring!!
